A Simply Shetland + Madelinetosh Collaboration

Gudrun Johnston's Rhinebeck cowl pattern, Cloud Drift, is here. Each palette features Madelinetosh Tosh Silk Cloud in Plivver—a limited-edition color dyed exclusively for Simply Shetland. This shade perfectly complements Jamieson’s of Shetland iconic Spindrift color, Old Gold. The pattern will only be available within the kits until its public release in early October.

From Shetland-born designer and brand director, Gudrun Johnston:

“The construction is inspired by traditional shetland hap (shawl) construction. For this cowl I worked it flat using yarn overs at the outside edges (which is part of the Shetland construction) and then seamed the back to make the cowl. It's mosaic knitting which is a fun way to use color without doing stranded knitting. It's all garter stitch based which is also something Shetland shawls tend to be. I wanted to use a very simple mosaic design that would work well for switching colors in a sort of gradient. I love the allover effect this one has. Almost reminds me of Sashiko patterns which wasn't totally intentional but speaks to the fact that it's shetland yarn held with a Japanese milled yarn!”
